Two-factor authentication (2FA) or can be also called as multi factor authentication (MFA) is another layer to protect your account or system against cyber security attacks. Usually 2FA is done by using a combination of what you know (which is your password), what you have (either a phone or a physical device) or what you are (finger print or face scan). Just imagine a #jamesbond or an #missionimpossible movie wherein the spy needs to key in the password and needs someone's hand or eye to get into the system or the vault. Venture Beat has a nice article that talks about the types of 2FA.
2FA is important in case your password gets compromise, the hacker needs another "factor" which could be your phone or yourself to eventually get in.
As a Human Firewall, strong password plus 2FA are very important. Watch out for the next tip. We are going to talk how to store passwords securely.
